Rodney Hood out vs. Pacers

0 6

The Cavs guard is out with ankle soreness.

The Cavs will be without Rodney Hood against the Pacers.

As announced by Cavs coach Tyronn Lue during his pregame availability, Hood will miss Monday night’s game due to ankle soreness. He joins Kevin Love, Jordan Clarkson and David Nwaba on the sidelines.

It isn’t yet clear who will start in place of Hood at shooting guard, but Lue said he was considering starting rookie Collin Sexton and George Hill together. Sexton has come off the bench in Cleveland’s first two preseason game — wins against the Celtics — while Hill started the first game against Boston before sitting out the second one. This would be the first look at an interesting lineup for the Cavs this year.

Not having Hood play isn’t ideal, as the Cavs are still getting set for the season and Hood figures to play a big role this year. But it’s also the preseason, and might have only played a half anyway, It’s probably best to be cautious with him and let him get right for the regular season, which kicks off next week.

The Cavs’ final preseason is Friday against the Pistons in East Lansing, Michigan — home to the Michigan State University, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert’s alma mater.
