Romeo Langford chooses Indiana, gives Hoosiers biggest recruit in a decade

0

Indiana has landed a gem in its 2018 recruiting class.

Indiana has landed its hometown savior. Romeo Langford, a five-star shooting guard out of New Albany, Indiana, close the Hoosiers on Monday night over Kansas and Vanderbilt.

Langford is the No. 5 player in ESPN’s class of 2018 rankings. He was the lone top-30 player to remain uncommitted before his decision on Monday. He gives Indiana its highest ranked recruit since Eric Gordon in the class of 2007.

Langford was one of the great scorers in the history of high school basketball in the state of Indiana, finishing with more than 3,000 career points during his career. He doesn’t have blow-by quickness and his three-point shooting numbers were underwhelming while playing on the adidas circuit, but he’s an advanced scorer who gives the Hoosiers a ready-made offensive force from the moment he steps on campus.

Archie Miller has now landed a signature recruit in his second season at Indiana. The Hoosiers were 16-15 overall last season, finishing 9-9 in the Big Ten. Langford will be expected to be the team’s leading scorer, but he’ll be surrounded by a veteran cast that includes De’Ron Davis and Juwan Morgan in the front court and Devonte Green at guard.

Langford is currently projected as the No. 5 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by ESPN.
