Mitch Haniger hitting a home run for you on your First Communion is a way better gift than a nice card and a new bible

Haniger hit his 10th dinger of the season on Sunday.

Mitch Haniger is on a tear. He’s one of three players in the league to have hit 10 home runs in the first month of the season after hitting just 16 in 97 games last year. He’s raking, and he reached double digit dingers on Sunday with another mash.

But Sunday’s meant more than the nine that came before it. Not just because it tied him for the league lead with Mike Trout and Didi Gregorius, but because it gave his family a very special moment during a gathering.

According to an Instagram post from one of the Haniger clan, Mitch’s dad promised his nephew that he would hit a home run for his First Communion. Matt came through, and they went WILD. Good thing someone had the foresight to film it!

Getting family together for big life events like this is obviously a gift unto itself, but having Haniger come through like this on the little boy’s big day is an unforgettable moment. There’s not many better gifts than a spontaneous surprise like this.
