Washington D.C. will host the tournament for the first time ever.

The 2018 A-10 Tournament will take place from March 7-11 from Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. This year marks the first time in tournament history that it’s been played in D.C. — it has been played in Brooklyn, Pittsburgh, and New Jersey in recent years.

The Stakes

Last year’s champion Rhode Island finished the season a-top the A-10 with a 15-2 record in conference play. The Rams defeated VCU 70-63 last season for the championship. VCU is currently 7th in the conference standings, with a 16-14 overall record. Right behind Rhode Island in the conference is Saint Bonaventure, followed by Davidson, Saint Louis, and Georgia Mason, and Saint Josephs. While it looks like Rhode Island, Saint Bonaventure, and Davidson will be the top contenders, some of the middle-tier teams could certainly make a run.

The Format

The four lowest seeds will each play in the tournament’s first round, while the top four seeds receive byes through the first two rounds. The winners of the two first-round games will then play the top seeds that didn’t receive a second-round bye.
