[Women's Basketball] Four WBB Falcons Earn All-KCAC Honors; Evans Selected to All-Defensive Team

WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 21-ranked Friends University Falcons, the regular season KCAC champions, have placed four players on the All-KCAC squad, the league released today (Feb. 20).

Senior guard Betty Akathiotou (SR/Nicosia, Cyprus) is a first-team selection, senior guard Makenzie Vining (SR/Caney, Kan.) is a second-team performer, while senior guard Yowana Posey (SR/Chicago, Ill.) and junior guard Lexi Evans (JR/Austin, Texas) earned honorable-mention honors.

Evans, the league leader in steals with 3.7 thefts per game, was also named to the league's all-defensive team.

"These four individuals have worked hard from start to finish," Friends head coach Nicole Midder said, who led the Falcons to the KCAC title in her first season at the helm.

"I am extremely proud of their individual accomplishments and glad the KCAC has recognized their gifts."

Akathiotou, the Falcons' leading scorer at 15.2 points per game, also ranks second on both the team and the KCAC with 3.4 steals per game.

One of the top three-point shooters in the league, Vining is second on the Falcons with 14.7 ppg while leading the KCAC in threes per game (2.86) and ranking fourth in three-point percentage (.377).

Posey is the Falcons' leading rebounder at 5.9 rpg and also averages double-figure scoring with 11.8 ppg.

In addition to her steal total, Evans is scoring 8.4 ppg and is second on the team with 59 makes from beyond the arc.

The all-conference foursome is a big catalyst in the Falcons' current 13-game winning streak, the program's most consecutive wins since the 2012-13 season.

The Falcons enter the KCAC tournament as the top seed and will host eighth-seeded McPherson College tomorrow night (Feb. 21) at 7 pm inside the Garvey PE Center.
