Tiger Woods commits to Honda Classic
It’s a great sign about his health and the state of his game that Tiger, after the PGA Tour announced on Friday that he will start at the Honda Classic, will play in two straight PGA Tour events.
Tiger Woods, signaling that his health and game are truly back on track, has committed to start in next week’s Honda Classic.
Woods was midway through his second round of the Genesis Open on Friday when PGATour.com reported that the former world No. 1 will play in back-to-back tour events. Tiger’s start at the Honda will mark the first time he will tee it up in two consecutive weeks since 2015.

“I think it would be a great sign if I do play. I think it would be a smart sign if I didn’t play,” Woods said earlier in the week from Riviera, where he was battling to make the cut on the course where he made his first tour start as a 16-year-old amateur.

The last time Woods played in his backyard at PGA National, in 2014, back spasms forced him to withdraw after 13 holes of the final round. He underwent his first of four back surgeries shortly after his WD.
At the start of his five-win season in 2013, Woods finished T37 at the Honda, after tying for second a year earlier.
At Riviera, Woods made the turn at 3-over, two shots south of the projected cut line. He finished T23 in his first official tour competition, at Torrey Pines three weeks ago, after a lengthy layoff.
