The Cavaliers are reportedly interested in trading for George Hill

Cleveland is looking for backcourt help, and Hill is an answer to that problem.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a need in their backcourt, and according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania, they have interest in Sacramento Kings veteran guard George Hill. The 31-year-old Hill, a solid combo guard with playoff experience in San Antonio, Indiana, and Utah, would give the Cavaliers much-needed perimeter defense and depth at the guard spot.

Hill signed a three-year, $57 million contract with the Kings this summer, and the Cavaliers’ payroll is sky-high with multiple max contracts. The Cavaliers attempted to trade Iman Shumpert to the Rockets during the summer. Shumpert plus Channing Frye’s contract would be enough to facilitate a Hill trade, and including Cleveland’s first-round pick in 2018 might sweeten the pot enough for Kings GM Vlade Divac to pull the trigger.

Hill is averaging the lowest scoring numbers of his career since the 2013-14 season at 10.5 points per game, but he is a 45 percent three-point shooter, and LeBron James is at his best in lineups with all shooters. Hill averaged 17 points and four assists in one season with the Jazz last year.
