Osweiler gets the nod over Paxton Lynch when Denver takes on Washington in Week 16. Can he top his last game?

Coming off a career game, Brock Osweiler is likely to get the start for the Denver Broncos in Week 16 against Washington, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday. Osweiler came off the bench for Trevor Siemian last week against the Indianapolis Colts, WOO HOO HOO HOOed his way to an 18-yard rushing touchdown, and led Denver to a win.

Siemian suffered a shoulder injury in Indianapolis, which will sideline him for the rest of the season.

What happened? During the first quarter against the Colts, Siemian was sacked and landed awkwardly on his shoulder. Moments later, he went to the sideline for further evaluation and was carted off the field.

Osweiler entered and threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns and put up a career-high passer rating of 147.7 in the Broncos’ 25-13 win.

The biggest question surrounding the team this week was whether the Broncos would let second-year quarterback Paxton Lynch start in the remaining two games. Lynch returned to practice after missing the last three games due to an ankle injury he suffered against the Raiders.

But Osweiler gets the nod as the starter for the fourth time this season. The Broncos are an un-WOO HOO HOO HOO 0-3 in his starts so far this season.

Why is this important? The Broncos spiraled out of control this season, thanks in large part to instability and mediocre play at quarterback. Although they have already been eliminated from the playoffs, they have a chance to end the season on a high note. Denver has won two in a row, and Osweiler did a great job of orchestrating this offense against Indianapolis.

No matter what, though, the Broncos will have to address the quarterback position this offseason.
