Is Lonzo the worst finisher in the paint in the NBA?
We know his shot is horrendous looking physically in our eyes and on the stat sheet. 25% three point shooting and 42% free throws. The one thing no one is emphasizing is how bad he does in the paint. He has virtually no mid range game and zero post up moves. He's 6'6 without any offensive moves. You can say this is a small sample size with barely 20 games into the season, but what makes you think it will change. When he drives into the lane, his take to the basket sometimes looks awkward and weird. Most of his shots in the paint either fall very short or is a really bad miss(brick and bad angles). We know his left hand looks better when driving into the paint, but going to the right is a major weakness not only for drive-ins, but also jumpshot. He has took 0 shots leaning to his right this season and 1 ugly post up move that barely grazed the rim. You can look at the statistics. He is shooting a range in the 20% in the paint, which is pretty sad for a #2 overall pick. We can all praise his passing and rebounding, which are nice, but when the playoffs come around, defenses would rather let him drive inside rather than letting him take long range 3's with a big chance of rebounding from Nance and randle to gobble with Lonzo's bricks.
Seriously, he has to be the worst player in the paint in the NBA?
