How the Steelers came back from a 17-3 deficit against the Colts, in a 90-second read
The Steelers move to 7-2 on the season after a scare in Indy.
The Colts and Steelers played one of the closer games in Week 10’s first slate of games, with the Steelers coming out on top by a final score of 20-17.
The win puts the Steelers at 7-2 on the season, as they continue to contend for the top spot in the AFC.
Here was how they beat the Colts on Sunday, after initially falling behind on the road against one of the weaker teams in the AFC.
The Colts came out with a 17-3 lead
If you walked up to your TV or mobile device and looked at NFL scores, you would have been surprised to see this in the third quarter.
The Colts’ offense had explosive touchdowns in the first 34 minutes of play. The first one was a 60-yard bomb to Donte Moncrief.
A 61-yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to Chester Rodgers put them up 17-3 with 12:46 left in the third.
After a stale performance by the Steelers in the first half, there was genuine concern in the air. The Colts have been one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, and it had looked like the Steelers were going back to their early-season ways.
Punter Jordan Berry was momentarily a hero
After the Steelers finally scored a touchdown thanks to JuJu Smith-Schuster, the extra point didn’t go so well.
The extra point was blocked, and it appeared the Colts were going to take it back for two points.
Then Jordan Berry saved the day, after taking a great angle on the play.
The play ended up not being as significant as it could have been, but it was good on Berry for not just giving up on the play. Many players would have done just that.
Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown made a play when they needed it
The Steelers finished the game with a 10-play, 70 yard drive in three minutes to win the game.
However, the big play was a 1st and 10 from the 50, where Roethlisberger was able to find Antonio Brown with a 32-yard reception.
That then set up a 33-yard field goal by Chris Boswell, and the Steelers were able to complete their comeback.
