Fantasy football Week 9: Start or sit Josh McCown for ‘TNF’?

0

McCown’s hot scoring streak is in jeopardy Thursday night vs. the Bills. We break down the fantasy impact.

The New Jork Jets are struggling to win of late, but not because of the play of starting quarterback Josh McCown. McCown has at least two touchdowns in all of the Jets’ last three losses and he is averaging 273 yards passing per game in that span. In the Week 8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, McCown completed 26 passes for 257 yards, two touchdowns, and no picks.

McCown will have a much tougher challenge on his hands when division rivals the Buffalo Bills come to town Thursday night. The Bills feature one of the top defenses in the NFL. The Bills have 11 interceptions so far this season the second-most in the league and they have only given up six passing touchdowns the second-fewest in the league. Before Sunday, McCown threw an interception in every game since Week 3.

Fantasy impact: McCown has played well the last few weeks, but he has not had a challenging defense since Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In that game, he did not score a touchdown and had one interception. The Bills are the second-best defense behind Jacksonville. McCown’s worst game of the season came against Buffalo in Week 1. Do not expect him to be much better Thursday night.

Recommendation: Sit
