Ravens hilariously beat total with otherwise meaningless TD on last play vs. Vikings

0

That’s a pretty bad beat.

The Ravens lost to the Vikings on Saturday in Minnesota, 24-16. The last play of the game was an apparently useless touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Chris Moore with the clock reading 0:00. The Vikings only won by eight instead of by 15.

Obviously, this blog post exists because the touchdown was not meaningless. It brought the total number of points scored in the game to 39. The betting total for the game was 37.5 points, and the touchdown as time expired busted it. The PAT made it 40, and that was actually meaningless. Look at how not-hard everyone was trying:

This is my second favorite bad beat of the NFL season so far. The first — which I’m not sure will ever be surpassed — was a Justin Houston fumble recovery touchdown on the last play of a game against Washington that pushed the margin past a 6.5-point spread. A defensive touchdown for an otherwise meaningless score is hard to top.

This one’s also funny because Baltimore hadn’t scored an offensive touchdown since Oct. 8 against the Raiders. They had a couple non-offensive TDs in a loss last week to the Bears, and Flacco’s unit finally found the end zone just in time to beat the total.
