After loss to Memphis, Jim Mora’s UCLA is summed up with this 1 stat
The Bruins have to be more consistent.
The Jim Mora era in Los Angeles has been one of fits and starts. The win over Texas A&M was a huge moment for the Bruins to open the season. The loss over Memphis in Week 3 was, uhh, not.
Exhibit A:
UCLA has lost its last 4 games as a ranked team vs an unranked opponent, per @ESPNStatsInfo

The others on that list are the Texas A&M game last season as well as the USC and Washington State games in 2015. A team with the talent level of A&M shouldn’t have the problems that it does against teams it should take care of business against. Memphis is a talented AAC opponent, but one the Bruins need to put away if they hope to take the next step.
QB Josh Rosen is a draftnik darling and DE Jaelan Phillips was the No. 1 recruit in the country last year. The players are there, but it’s the inconsistency that frustrates those around the program.
As USC heads on an increasingly upward trajectory, UCLA faces an erosion of the status in LA earned by Mora & Co. Life isn’t getting any easier for the Bruins, and they aren’t making things easy on themselves either.
