Florida’s stadium literally lost its 'O' and 'D'

0

No, this isn’t fake. Yes, it’s fitting.

The University of Florida sustained some flooding and debris in Hurricane Irma, but on Tuesday, the SEC announced Florida’s game on Saturday against Tennessee will be played at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium as scheduled. The stadium’s signage lost some letters during the storm, specifically the “O” and the “D” from the “Steve Spurrier-Florida Field” sign.

Oh man, this is so unfortunate, but actually perfect at the same time. You see, Florida’s offense and defense didn’t look all that great in the team’s one game against Michigan, a 33-17 loss in Week 1. The Gators’ offense had just 192 total yards, and it only scored on a 46-yard field goal — the rest of the points were on a pair of pick-sixes in the second quarter. The defense gave up 433 yards and three touchdowns so, welp.

According to UF, the signage is the only major damages the stadium suffered, luckily. We’ll see if Florida’s offense and defense can get better as it faces the Vols at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Gators, thanks to its game against Northern Colorado being cancelled last weekend, have had two full weeks without playing a game.
