Jermaine Kearse on the trade block, fantasy value unknown
The Seahawks seem to be open to dealing one of their veterans. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Seattle Seahawks appear to be trying to find a way to trade wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini. Kearse has spent the last five seasons with the team.
Fantasy impact: Kearse has over $7 million and two years left on his contract. It appears more likely he’d be cut by the team rather than traded for that reason. Kearse has only ever had waiver wire appeal in deep fantasy leagues. Things will be no different going forward.
The bigger picture here is that Doug Baldwin, Paul Richardson, Kasen Williams, and Tyler Lockett are all on the team. There’s only one football to go around. Add that to a solid run game and Kearse becomes expendable.
The Seahawks will once again be one of the top teams in the NFL in 2017. With Kearse appearing to be on his way out, fantasy owners can just keep him in mind for later in the season. He’s proven enough to earn a chance somewhere. That’s whether he gets traded or released by Seattle.
