Kyrie Irving’s “Uncle Drew” movie has received a prime summer release date on June 29, 2018, according to an announcement from Lionsgate on Tuesday.

Directed by Charles Stone III (“Drumline”) and based on a series of Pepsi commercials starring Irving as the titular elderly basketball ace, “Uncle Drew” follows Dax (Lil Rel Howery), an aspiring street baller who drains his life savings to enter the famous Rucker Park tournament in Harlem, only to lose his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament, Dax asks his Uncle Drew to return to the court one more time as his teammate, prompting a road trip to gather all of Drew’s old teammates together for an on-court reunion.

Uncle Drew’s teammates will be played by a cast of retired basketball legends, including Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie. The film will be produced by Temple Hill and Pepsi’s Creator League Studios, and will be distributed by Summit Entertainment.

Stone is repped by Paradigm Talent Agency. Watch the full series of commercials here.
