23 statements Floyd Mayweather made about Conor McGregor leading up to the big fight
Mayweather knows he has a huge advantage over McGregor in this fight, and isn't afraid to let the UFC lightweight champion know.
Floyd Mayweather is just as responsible as Conor McGregor is for creating this media frenzy and social media brouhaha that continues to follow them ahead of Saturday’s Mayweather-McGregor boxing match. Mayweather, who boasts an impressive 49-0 boxing record, said last December that McGregor, the current UFC Lightweight champion, doesn't want to fight him.
McGregor secured a boxing license in California, and Mayweather questioned why
“Man, I don’t fight in California. What did he get a license in California for?” Mayweather said in a recent Periscope session (via FightHype, with NSFW video). “I’ma tell you like this, he’s blowing smoke up everybody’s [butt]. He don’t really want to fight because I went to his boss. He don’t really want to fight. He’s just doing that to keep his name alive — you know what I’m saying? — to stay relevant. He don’t really want to fight. He’s doing that building his followers, but he’s smart.”
Mayweather said he will slap McGregor.
“I don’t give a [expletive] what night it was, I ain’t never taking no ‘L,'” the undefeated Mayweather said. “I’m [expletive] McGregor up, too,” Mayweather said. “Punk-[butt] McGregor. I’m gonna slap McGregor. I’m gonna slap the [expletive] out of McGregor when I see him.”
Money Talks
Mayweather said in January that he is willing to give McGregor $15 million for their fight, but McGregor wanted $100 million guaranteed. Mayweather questioned that right off the bat.
“But we are willing to give him $15 million and then we can talk about splitting the percentage, the back end percentage on pay-per-view. But of course, we’re the ‘A’ side. How can a guy talk about $20 or $30 million if he’s never made $8 or $9 million?”
Insults in March
It's official, Mayweather is coming out of retirement to fight McGregor, who is a "little punk" in Mayweather's eyes.
"Real men fight standing up," Mayweather said in a recent interview with Fight Hype. "I'm from old school. I'm not gonna kick my shoes off. I'm not gonna be between no man's legs, wrestling on the ground. I'm gonna stand up and I'm gonna kick ass. That's what I do."
“Conor McGregor, stop blowing smoke up people’s ass you little [expletive],” Mayweather said, per Damon Martin of Fox Sports. “If you want to fight, let’s make it happen you punk. Conor McGregor you don’t even want to fight you little [expletive], you little punk. Let’s make it happen.”
“So just letting the world know that he’s full of [expletive]. He don’t really want to fight. ‘Oh I want to fight, I want to fight, I want to fight, Mayweather’s scared of me’ — well listen, I’m my own boss, let’s make the fight happen. You talking all that [expletive], you acting like you want to fight, I don’t think you really want to fight. Sign the contract and let’s make it happen.”
Let's get ready to rumble
It's official, folks, Mayweather and McGregor confirmed on June 14 they will collide Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. After the conformation, both fighters went on a world tour in July to promote the fight. Mayweather didn't hesitate to insult McGregor during this tour.
Trading barbs in Los Angeles
"I don’t give a f*** if it’s the ring, I don’t give a f*** if it’s the, if it’s the octagon. Put me in there and I’m a’kick a**."
"Well point to the f***ing easy work then. Aw, y’all already know. Y’all already know I ain’t, y’all already know I ain’t b****in’ man. I don’t back down for no-motherf***ing-body. You line ‘em up and I knock ‘em down like bowling pins. In August 26, I’m a’knock this b**** out too."
"Yeh, we knew I was the A-side, that’s why it say Mayweather first. We knew I was the A-side, that’s why this b**** had to come to the boxing ring. Yeh he look good for a seven-figure fighter. He look good for an eight-figure fighter. But motherf***er I’m a nine-figure fighter. And y’all know what? This b**** made $3 million his last fight. Well we know that’s training camp money for me."
Yeh, we gonna get off in that a**. We gonna get off in that a**, that’s what we gonna do.
And guess what, I’m an old man, I’m an old man. I’m not the same man I was 20 years ago, I’m not the same fighter I was 10 years ago, I’m not the same fighter I was five years, I’m not the same fighter I was two years ago. But I got enough to beat you.
And we know, we know ‘Mr Tap Out’ like to quit, and you will wave that white flag. Because you can choose which way you want to go. And I’m guaranteeing you this. You’re going out on your face or you’re going out on your back. Now which way you want to go? Which way you want to go?
That’s right. Sit quiet you little b****. Talking about my defence, talking about oh I got good defence. All you got to do is show up, you just show up and I’m going to do the rest.
Mayweather's insults traveled with him to Toronto
"I do? Let me see the bag! [Mayweather opens backpack on stage]. Yeh he was right, yeh, the bag got books and we gonna show you what the books look like. If you believe in yourself like you say you believe in yourself, bet your whole fight check, you b****!"
"Let me see what it look like, grab me one [Mayweather crew member gets cheque], let me see what it look like. See if this b**** want to bet this."
"And y’all got the f***ing nerves to believe in a f***ing fighter that like to f***ing quit? This is a f***ing quitter!"
One thing we do know, one thing we do know, one thing we do know, the f***ing fans can’t fight for you.
Turn the pressure up, I don’t quit, I don’t fold under pressure. I’m the best and I know I’m the best. B****, you know I’m the best. Don’t you ever tell me s*** about a f***ing $3 million fighter. Not no more.

New York is the next stop
"I don’t just smell victory, I don’t just smell victory, you know what I smell? I smell a b**ch."
"All money, it ain’t good money. Hey, point to the easy work. Yo, point to the b**ch. Yo, point to the quitter."
"You f***ing idiot. You f***ng circus clown. You ho. You stripper you b*** and you know it. And you know it."
"We ain’t got to dress up. Guess what, this (McGregor) ain’t s*** but a circus, come on. And a p*ssy. I ain’t never quit and never will."

It all comes down to Aug. 26
During the last press conference before the fight, Mayweather said this bout comes down to two competitors displaying their skills.
“Now it comes down to the two competitors, to me and Conor McGregor, going out there displaying our skills and giving the fans what they want to see. That’s what it’s really about — the best fighting the best. He’s the best at what he do, I’m the best at what I do, but when it’s all said and done, Conor McGregor is like myself. In the octagon, he’s undefeated standing up. He can do a lot of this, I can do a lot of this, but it comes down to the skills. It comes down to us fighting and competing and giving you guys what you wanna see.”
