NBA schedule release 2017: Time, TV schedule, and live stream
Here’s how you can figure out when all the important dates for your favorite team are.
The NBA schedule will look different this year, with an earlier opening day and fewer back-to-backs, especially leading into national television games. On Monday night, the schedule for the coming 2017-18 season will finally be released — and we can finally see it for ourselves.
This new schedule emphasis is building off of the NBA’s growing problem with teams resting players, which makes sense from a basketball perspective but damages the business side. The NBA’s hope is that they can create a schedule that has enough built-in rest that star players that make the money in this league rarely need to sit outside of injuries. That’s why the NBA is expected to introduce rules that limit rest for star players this year.
Back in 2012, the San Antonio Spurs were fined $250,000 for resting players and doing so blatantly. Things have changed since then, and the NBA stopped policing it like that. Now the issue has finally hit a head, and hopefully the league’s new schedule can help compensate for that.
