Raptors announce 2017 Las Vegas Summer League Roster

Here are the players venturing out to the desert in July on behalf of Toronto

With the schedule locked in, the Raptors have formally announced their 17-man roster for the 2017 Las Vegas Summer League in July. The tournament will run from July 7th to the 17th. The schedule is over here.

But now, the players!

You’ll note new rookie OG Anunoby is right there at that top. In actual fact, while Anunoby will apparently be on the Raptors Summer League roster, he won’t be able to play, as he is still recovering from an ACL tear in January.

Next, a couple of our D-League favourites will be around: Will Sheehey and he of the great name, Goodluck Okonoboh. (Also, shoutout to a Reynolds making the team.)

Finally, as predicted, the trio of Pascal Siakam, Jakob Poeltl, and Fred VanVleet will be back in Vegas again this summer. While all three showed a few NBA skills this past season, some more time spent working on their games is surely appreciated.

No surprise though: Delon Wright, Norman Powell, and Bruno Caboclo will not rejoin the Raptors in the desert. For the first two, this is not a particularly surprising turn of events (they were tearing it up on the court last summer in Vegas). For Bruno, this points more to the passage of time (three summers!) than any definable, translatable skills as of yet. We’ll see what happens in October.

The coach of the team will once again be Jama Mahlalela, who fits the roll required for the LVSL to a T. Good luck out there Jama!
