NBA Twitter accounts made fun of fans' bad trade advice
Watch the Twitter magic unfold!
It’s NBA trade season, and that means rumors are flying, teams are frantically searching for new players and fans are praying for the best. Or, in the case of Atlanta Hawks fans, they’re giving unsolicited advice ... and lots of it.
In fact, the Hawks took to their historically fire Twitter account to joke about the armchair GMs who have something to say about everyone on their team:
According to our mentions, we should trade for everybody.
— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) June 20, 2017
And apparently it’s not just the Hawks with this problem! From this tweet, other teams started to sound off about their mentions, and the thread is complete gold. Because not only do NBA teams know trades better, they tweet better too.
The Magic agreed:
we thought it was just us... pic.twitter.com/4Zmzj9vVK9

And so did the Nets, in meme form:
The floor is our mentions pic.twitter.com/zRqvTWujoB

But the MOST exciting part was the very serious trade that resulted from a tweet conversation between the Hawks and Hornets. Watch how it played out:
bruh. same.
— Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) June 20, 2017
OK, nice progress! Good deals start on common ground.
We'll trade you today's tweet for tomorrow's tweet and an unprotected future tweet.

Ooh, something’s cooking!
the trade machine says this works so u should definitely do it pic.twitter.com/GHCxCk0qAP
— LA Clippers (@LAClippers) June 20, 2017
YES! Unsolicited advice from the Clippers ... and using the NBA Trade Machine, too!
But should the Hornets take the deal?
The Clippers are correct...ESPN trade machine says okay: pic.twitter.com/r1eLa5dptV

The Hawks sure think so...
Throw in a snap with the puppy filter and we’ll talk.
— Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) June 20, 2017
Drats. The Hornets drive a hard bargain. But the Hawks aren’t letting go without a fight.
Counter offer: pic.twitter.com/f77z3vmU7w
— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) June 20, 2017
Not a bad counter-offer. But is it enough to lure the Hornets back?
Add a future second round Instagram post and we have a deal
— Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) June 20, 2017
Not quite, but they’re almost there!
You drive a hard bargain, Hornets. You're lucky the trade machine still accepts. Deal! pic.twitter.com/7Jl7unR0oI
— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) June 20, 2017
Woo! Success! Time to pop open the champagne and celebrate.
DONE Great doing business with you fellas. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out over time.
— Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) June 20, 2017
See what can get done when fans let teams sort things out on their own? So there was a moral here all along.
Can't wait to see how the writers grade this trade tomorrow
— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) June 20, 2017
It’s an A+ trade, no question. Quite possibly one of the greatest trades in the history of the NBA, and CERTAINLY on Twitter.
But hey, without fans tweeting at teams, we wouldn’t have Twitter threads this great — so in the end, everybody wins!
