[Baseball] Cavs Fall in Game Two to Split With Ecclesia College
SHAWNEE- The Cavaliers (26-17, 9-8 SAC) took on Ecclesia College (27-17) and the two teams split the double-header. St. Gregory's won game one 4-2, but then fell 6-1 in game two.
Ecclesia got on the board first in game one, when they knocked in two runs in the top of the second inning. The Cavs would soon tie the game at two in the bottom of the third inning. Jordan Martin (SR/Moore, Okla.) scored the Cavs first run, when he was on third and a wild pitch got by the catcher. Ryan Lujan-Leonard (FR) then hit a sac-fly to left, scoring Connor Parsells (SR/Oklahoma City, Okla.). The Cavaliers took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth, on a two-run homerun hit by Armando Fajardo (JR/San Mateo, Calif.).
Easton Bennett (SR/Portland, Ore.) got his first start of the season on the mound, and went the first two innings, earning a no-decision. Layton Moore (SO/Jones, Okla.) pitched 5 scoreless innings in releif, on his way to earning the win. Moore allowed only three hits and he struck out 5 batters.
Offensively, Fajardo led the Cavs with his two-RBI homer, and Connor Parsells went 2-3 with two runs scored. Brandon Marerro (JR/Carolina, Puerto Rico) went 1-1 with a single and he was also hit by two pitches.
