Morning Briefing: Soto Eyeing Return Next Week

Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets weren’t shut out on Wednesday, but they did struggle offensively again in an 8-2 loss to the Dodgers. Clay Holmes was solid for five innings, but a Dalton Rushing grand slam against Devin Williams in the eighth inning widened the gap. The Mets have now lost eight in a row. Read more here.

As the Mets’ offensive woes have come to a peak over the last week, the cavalry could be on their way. Juan Soto, who has been out of the lineup since April 3 with a strained right calf, is looking to return to the big league club some time during the Mets’ next homestand which starts next Monday, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Soto started his running progression on Tuesday and would be a massive help to this anemic Mets offense.
