Mets Minors Recap: Syracuse Wins on Walk-off Homer

0 1

Sunday was a rainy day in New York as both the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A) and the Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A) were rained out. However, the Syracuse Mets (Triple-A) were able to play with a fiery finish.

The Mets (Triple-A) were the only team in the organization to play on Sunday due to the postponements in Double-A and High-A. The St. Lucie Mets (Single-A) had the day off. Minor League veteran Jackson Cluff made a statement in the final game of Syracuse’s six-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens. Carl Edwards Jr. got the start, staying stretched out on the off-chance he ends up in Queens at some point this season.

Notably, Christian Arroyo was a late scratch for Syracuse, and Nick Morabito was not in the lineup on Sunday. This came after Brett Baty was a late scratch for the Mets vs. the Giants, and days after Juan Soto suffered a minor right calf strain. It’ll be interesting to keep an eye out to see if any roster moves take place regarding the four in the coming days.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (5-4) 4, Toledo Mud Hens (3-6) 3

Box Score

It was a strong bounce-back outing for the Syracuse staff, limiting the Mud Hens to just three runs and four hits in Sunday’s contest, after allowing seven runs on Saturday. Edwards was very good in his second start of the season, lowering his ERA to 3.00 on the year. Flame-throwing prospect Lambert pitched a clean inning without issuing a walk. Alex Carillo ended with a winning decision after an adventurous top of the ninth where he walked two batters, but did not allow a run after his disastrous start to 2026.

Although the Mets (Triple-A) have had better offensive games this season, the bats came through when it mattered most. After trailing 3-0 going to the bottom of the sixth, Pache singled to drive in two runs that cut the lead to one. After staying quiet until the bottom of the ninth, Cluff came up with Bae on third base, and snuck a 311 ft, 100.1 MPH home run with a launch angle of 44 degrees over the right field wall to walk it off.
