The newly implemented automated ball-strike challenge system has added a different dimension to Major League Baseball for the 2026 season. Most players and coaches seem to be in favor of the ability to contest a home-plate umpire’s call on a pitch, and, as noted by Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto, the fans might be as excited for an ABS challenge in a key spot as any other moment during the action.

“It kind of brings a little comedic relief to the game,” Realmuto said on April 1.

So how have the Phillies fared on ABS challenges during their first year in use? Here’s a running tracker to keep tabs on each player’s success rate throughout the season:

Last updated on April 2

Defensive challenges (wins-losses)

  • Catcher J.T. Realmuto: 3-0, 100%
  • Pitcher Zach Pop: 0-1, 0%
  • Pitcher Cristopher Sánchez: 0-1, 100%

Team total: 3-2, 60%

Offensive challenges (wins-losses)

  • Kyle Schwarber: 3-1, 75%
  • Justin Crawford: 0-1, 0%
  • Adolis García: 0-1, 0%

Team total: 3-3, 50%
