Morning Briefing: Blade Tidwell Shuts Down Mets in Giants Debut

Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets looked to get back in the win column as they headed to San Francisco on Thursday. But they were unable to do so, dropping the series opener against the Giants 7-2.

David Peterson started rough and ended strong. He was piggybacked by Sean Manaea, who gave up a few runs of his own. The offense was cold again, outside of a Bo Bichette double and Mark Vientos home run. For more on this game, check out our recap.

Now onto the morning briefing!

Before their game against the Mets, the San Francisco Giants recalled pitcher Blade Tidwell from Triple-A Sacramento. The corresponding move was that Jose Buttó was placed on the 15-day injured list with right arm fatigue. Tidwell ended up recording a three-inning save to beat the Mets in his Giants debut. The former Met allowed just two hits and no walks in three innings, while striking out two.
