Bryan Brooks returns as Softball Canada U-18 Men's National Team head coach
Softball Canada announced that Bryan Brooks has been reappointed as head coach of the Canadian U-18 Men’s National Team program for the 2027 WBSC World Cup cycle, with Jean-Yves Doucet and Don Scott joining his staff as assistant coaches.
The staff worked together last year and led the Canadian U-18 Men’s squad to a bronze medal at the 2025 WBSC Americas Pan American Championship in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. The result qualified Canada for the upcoming WBSC U18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027, which will be held in Czechia.
Brooks was selected as a Men’s National Team Pool Coach in 2024 before stepping in as U-18 Men’s Head Coach in 2025. He previously served as a guest coach at several Softball Canada U18 and U-23 Men’s National Team Identification camps.
Doucet has been part of the U-18 Men’s National Team program since 2014, first serving as a guest coach before joining the staff as an assistant coach in 2016. He helped guide Canada to bronze medal performances at the 2016 and 2023 U-18 Men’s World Cups, and a fourth-place finish in 2018.
Scott had his first experience as a coach with the U-18 Men’s National Team in 2025 after serving as an assistant coach on Brooks’ Team Ontario Canada Games staff. Don has enjoyed an accomplished playing career, having been part of the Men’s National Team program from 2007 to 2013 including a 2013 WBSC Men’s World Cup appearance.
Softball Canada and the U-18 coaching staff will now turn their attention on the athlete identification and selection process in 2026 to determine the 2027 World Cup roster.
