MMO Roundtable: Which Five Mets Prospects Do We Think Will Debut In 2026?
Spring training is well underway! We’ve already shared with you which storylines we’re paying attention to during the spring. Now we’re here to share with you which prospects we’re paying the closest attention to. Here’s who we think we’ll see make their Queens debut this season.

I think Carson Benge is the Opening Day right fielder. AJ Ewing and Ryan Clifford will earn call-ups and Dylan Ross and Ryan Lambert will reinforce the bullpen.
One prospect I’m worried about is Jonah Tong. His delivery has a lot going on, and the way he turns his head, every pitch reminds me of a no-look pass in basketball.

Carson Benge will be the Opening Day right fielder. Ryan Clifford will thrive in Triple-A and become a platoon piece at first base with Jorge Polanco. In addition, Dylan Ross and Ryan Lambert will become fixtures in the bullpen, and Jack Wenninger will make a few spot starts when the Mets need them. I also see Nick Morabito grabbing a spot as a Swiss Army Knife-type player.

Carson Benge will be in the majors by May, Ryan Clifford will follow shortly to play first base. Dylan Ross and Ryan Lambert will be in the bullpen by the All-Star break, and I expect both of them to be high-leverage arms. The last prospect I expect to get the call this year is Jack Wenninger, mostly as a swingman.

Carson Benge, Ryan Lambert, Dylan Ross, Nick Morabito and Jonathan Santucci.
The first three are obvious: there’s a need for Benge and the two relievers. Morabito is on the 40-man and seems like the fifth outfielder on the depth chart right now. Then Santucci is a little more of a wild card but the prospect I’m picking from the next group of pitching prospects (that also includes Wenninger and Watson).

Carson Benge, Ryan Lambert, Dylan Ross, Nick Morabito and Ryan Clifford.
I have already seen enough in spring to pencil Benge in as the Opening Day right fielder. Lambert and Ross will 100% make an impact in the ‘26 bullpen, even if it isn’t right out of the gate. Morabito may be called upon if an injury occurs in the outfield group. Clifford is the most interesting name on this list. With first base likely being some version of platoon between Polanco/Baty/Vientos, a natural first baseman on the rise could earn a call-up with a strong minor league season. I think Clifford mashes early on and will find himself on the big league roster come summertime.

Most folks have said the most obvious ones, and I agree with: Benge, Lambert, Ross, Morabito and Clifford. I think believe all five of them will debut this year. Beyond that, I believe lefty Nate Lavender also debuts in 2026. And there’s almost always a reliever or two that most folks didn’t know before the season that ends up in the majors. This year, I would say Saul Garcia, Felipe De La Cruz, and Ben Simon fall into that group. Simon is the most likely of the group to get a chance first.
I do think Wenninger is likely to be big league ready in 2026, but the Mets are actually pretty well set up going into the year with rotation depth.
