Morning Briefing: Jonah Tong Likely to Start 2026 in Triple-A

0 10

Good morning, Mets fans!

Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Mets pitcher Jonah Tong is likely to begin the season in Triple-A. Tong, still just 22, recorded a 7.71 ERA in five big league starts last year, but has been brilliant when pitching in the minor leagues. The Mets still have high hopes for Tong, which is why they withheld him from trade talks with the Brewers for Freddy Peralta, according to Heyman. But after acquiring Peralta and having several other big league pitchers firmly in the rotation, Tong is set to start 2026 on the outside looking in.
