Philippines sweep Southeast Asian Games Softball medals
The Philippines reaffirmed its dominance in Southeast Asian softball by winning both the men’s and women’s tournaments at the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
Combined with the previously secured gold in men’s baseball, the country completed a sweep of baseball and softball (Thailand claimed Baseball5 gold) contested at the regional event held at Queen Sirikit Baseball Stadium in Pathum Thani .
Men’s Softball: Ninth title for the Blu Boys
The men’s tournament concluded on Thursday with No. 19 Philippines shutting out No. 11 Singapore, 3–0, in the Gold Medal Game. The victory delivered the nation its ninth championship in 11 SEA Games editions and marked a successful return to the top after falling to Singapore in 2019.
Pitcher Juhanz Coro delivered a commanding performance, firing a two-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts. Justine Rosales provided early momentum with a first-inning home run that set the tone for the Blu Boys.
In the bronze medal matchup, No. 27 Thailand defeated No. 29 Malaysia, 9–2, in five innings.
Women’s Softball: Blu Girls extend unprecedented reign
The Philippine women’s national team continued its unmatched supremacy in the region, claiming a record 11th consecutive gold medal with a 4–1 win over No. 25 Singapore. Ranked No. 16 globally, the Blu Girls broke a tight game open with a decisive three-run sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Angelu Gabriel.
Left-hander Royevel Palma was dominant in the circle, striking out 10 and holding Singapore to one run on four hits.
For the bronze medal, No. 48 Thailand edged Indonesia, 1–0. Thai pitcher Waranya Suanthong threw a two-hit shutout, allowing two walks and striking out two. The game’s lone run came in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Konraphin Sae Yang.
