Non-Tendered Players Who Fit Mets in 2026
Friday’s non-tender deadline saw many players shockingly fail to receive contracts for the next season.
In Mets land, Max Kranick, Danny Young, and José Castillo were the only players who didn’t receive deals. But across the sport, certain All-Stars and former top prospects were let go into free agency.
The full list of players non-tendered can be found here on Metsmerized. Below are three names that fit the Mets heading into the 2026 season.

Adolis García, OF/DH
In a shocking turn of events, the Rangers non-tendered Adolis García. The 2023 ALCS MVP has struggled the past two seasons, registering OPS+’s of 98 and 93, while also posting OBPs under .300.
Still, García is just two seasons removed from a 39-homer, 107-RBI, .836 OPS season where he helped the Rangers to a World Championship. His strikeout rate hasn’t increased the last two seasons despite the lower OBP, and his average exit velocity has remained the same the last three seasons. García also registered a 2.7 bWAR last season.
García will be 33 next season and is still posting healthy hard hit rates. He’s projected to make $12 million for the next season, which would be a steal if he can cut down on his chase rate and marginally increase his walk rate.
Ramón Urías, 1B/2B/3B
If the Mets decide to dip into the utility market, Ramón Urías would fit the Mets’ needs.
The club has been noted to need a third baseman and second baseman, and even a first baseman if Pete Alonso walks in free agency. Urías would fit all those needs.
The former Oriole and Astro is coming off a disappointing season, batting just .241 with a .675 OPS. Still, Urías recorded a 2.2 bWAR last season and registered five outs above average defensively.
Urías is also one year removed from a season with the O’s where he slashed .254/.322/.423 with 11 homers in 100 games played. The Mexican native also had a respectable .743 OPS against lefties last season, and a career .725 OPS against righties, proving he can provide offensive help no matter which side is throwing from the mound.
Josh Winckowski, RHP
Josh Winckowski was a reliable arm in the Red Sox bullpen from 2023-2024, but missed a majority of the 2025 season with a right elbow flexor strain.
Winckowski is an intriguing name for the Mets due to his pitch mix and ability to eat innings. The righty pitched in 76 innings in 2024, posting a 4.14 ERA, while also providing multiple innings in outings pitched of up to 4 1/3.
Winckowski also put up spectacular numbers with his slider in 2024. The slider held batters to a .167 batting average and .222 slugging percentage in 165 pitches thrown. The only extra base hits allowed on the pitch were two doubles.
The righty also throws a cutter, sinker, changeup, and four-seam fastball. His primary pitch was the cutter and sinker, with the sinker registering a 24.7 whiff percentage. Despite batters hitting .303 against the sinker, the xBA was .264.
