Two 2025 Phillies players are finalists for BBWAA awards.

Kyle Schwarber finished in the top three of National League MVP Award voting alongside the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and the Mets’ Juan Soto. Ohtani is expected to win the award over Schwarber.

Cristopher Sánchez is an NL Cy Young Award finalist, alongside the Pirates’ Paul Skenes and the Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Skenes is the favorite to win the award. Playoff performance does not factor into award voting. Votes were cast by select BBWAA members at the end of the regular season. The same goes for MVP, Manager of the Year and Rookie of the Year Award voting.

Schwarber hit a National League-leading 56 home runs in 2025. He became the second Phillie ever to hit 50 home runs in a season, joining Ryan Howard in 2006. Schwarber, in his walk year, slashed .240/.365/.563 with a major-league leading 132 RBIs. He’ll surely cash in on having his best season yet in a contract year.

Sánchez established himself as a bonafide ace in 2025. The 28-year-old posted a 2.50 ERA with 212 strikeouts over 202 innings. He led all National League players, including Ohtani, with 8.0 Baseball-Reference wins above replacement.

Schwarber previously received down ballot MVP votes in 2022, 2023 and 2024. His highest finish so far is 15th in 2024.

Sánchez finished 10th in NL Cy Young Award voting in 2024, with two fifth-place votes. Those votes were significant for him, as his two club options in 2029 and 2030 can escalate based on Top 10 NL Cy Young Award voting finishes.

Bryce Harper is the last Phillie to win the MVP Award in 2021. Roy Halladay in 2010 is the last Phillie to win the Cy Young Award.

The winners of the American and National League Cy Young Awards will be announced on Nov. 12. MVP Award winners are announced on Nov. 13.
