Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner named Silver Slugger finalists
Designated hitter Kyle Schwarber and shortstop Trea Turner are Silver Slugger finalists in the National League.
Schwarber led the National League in home runs with 56. In the final year of his four-year, $79 million contract with the Phillies, Schwarber slashed .240/.365/.563 with a major league leading 132 runs batted in. Milwaukee’s Christina Yelich and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers are also Silver Slugger Award nominees at designated hitter.
Turner, the 2025 National League batting champion and the NL’s only qualified hitter to bat .300, finished second behind Luis Arraez in the National League in hits with 179. He slashed .304/.355./.457 with 15 home runs and 69 RBIs in what is considered Turner’s best overall season with the Phillies. Arizona’s Geraldo Perdomo and Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets are the other two finalists for the National League Silver Slugger Award at shortstop.
Both players won the award in 2022. Schwarber won it as an outfielder in his first full season with the Phillies. Turner won it at shortstop as a member of the Dodgers.
Previous Phillies Silver Slugger Award winners include Bryce Harper (2023, 2021), J.T. Realmuto (2022, 2019) and Schwarber (2022).
The Silver Slugger Award is presented annually to the best hitter at each position in each league. All 30 big league managers and three coaches on each team vote on the award.
The winners will be announced on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. ET on FanSided’s Baseball Insider’s podcast.
