WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup Americas Qualifier opens in Bahía Blanca, Argentina; Watch live on GameTime

The U-18 Men's Softball Pan American Championship opened on Monday in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, with six national teams competing for qualification to the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027. The participating teams are Argentina, Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

All games are being live streamed on GameTime, the WBSC’s official streaming platform. Fans around the world can choose between two subscription options: an All-Tournament Pass for US$12.99, which provides access to all 18 games live and on demand, or a Daily Pass for US$7.99, allowing fans to watch all the games scheduled for a single day.

In the only game on Opening Day, hosts Argentina defeated Peru, 5-0, to start the competition. Cristian Orsi struck out 11 over four innings, allowing just one hit and one walk to earn the win for the hosts. Shortstop Matías Clara led the offence, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored, while second baseman Dante Goitea added two RBIs and one run.

The tournament, held in honour of Jacinto Cipriota - a historic Argentine softball leader who passed away in October last year - runs through 11 October, with the fifth-place game at 10:30, the bronze medal game at 13:30, and the gold medal game at 16:30 on the final day.

The XV WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup is scheduled for 2027, featuring 12 teams: four from the Americas, two from Europe, two from Asia, two from Oceania, one from Africa and one wild card. The most recent edition was held in Hermosillo, Mexico, in 2023, when Japan claimed the world title.
