Mets Minors Recap: Williams, Benge Propel Syracuse
Top prospects Jett Williams and Carson Benge showed why they were first-round picks Friday. Williams (14th pick, 2022) went 2-for-5 with his sixth Triple-A homer and a double, and Benge (19th pick, 2024) went 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base in Syracuse’s 8-1 victory over Lehigh Valley.

Williams and Benge have followed similar paths this season. Williams, 21, hit .281/.390/.477 with 10 homers and 32 stolen bases in 96 games for Binghamton before he was promoted last month. He had scuffled in 31 games Syracuse entering Friday, slashing .202/.287/.387 with five homers and two steals.
Benge, 22, started the year at High-A Brooklyn (.897 OPS, 60 games) before posting a .978 OPS with eight homers in 32 games for Binghamton. In 21 games at Syracuse entering Friday, Benge was hitting .139/.225/.228 with two home runs.
Taylor saw his first action since being placed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain on Aug. 30. He played six innings in the field.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (90-46) advanced to the Eastern League Championship Series by completing a two-game sweep of the Somerset Patriots on Thursday. Binghamton will host the two-time defending Eastern League champion Erie SeaWolves (Tigers affiliate) in Game 1 of the best-of-three ELCS on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be at Erie on Tuesday and Wednesday.
OF-2B A.J. Ewing (.315/.401/.429, three homers, 70 steals across three levels), OF Nick Morabito (.273/.348/.385, six homers, 49 steals for Binghamton) and 3B-1B Jacob Reimer (.282/.379/.491, 17 homers, 15 steals across two levels) will try to lead the Rumble Ponies to their first title since 2014.
