The Mets have called up INF Luisangel Acuña and RHP Justin Hagenman for their September roster expansion.

The Mets will presumably leverage Acuña’s exceptional speed and defensive prowess to secure victories in close games and maintain leads during the later innings.

The series continues tonight at 6:40 p.m. ET with Nolan McLean (3-0, 0.89) facing Detroit’s Sawyer Gipson-Long (0-1, 4.32).

The Phillies are on the road in Milwaukee for a three-game series. They won the opener 10-8 after going down 4-0. With the win, they maintained a six-game lead over the Mets in the NL East.

Down 8-0 in the top of the eighth inning to the Houston Astros, Ken Boswell hit a home run and Wayne Garrett drove in runs to cut the lead to 8-7. In the ninth inning, the Astros made two errors that allowed the Mets to tie the game. The Mets later added two more runs to win the game 11-8.
