8/21 Cup of Coffee: John Holobetz (pictured) turned in another great outing for Portland with seven strong innings. Brady Tygart was missing bats yet again as well in his fourth appearance, striking out six in Salem's win. Greenville had an exciting extra-inning win behind a huge hit from Antonio Anderson.

John Holobetz was a tough-luck loser last night, as he fired seven innings of one-run ball. The only run he allowed came on a solo home run, which one was one of six hits off the right-hander. He struck out four and walked one, while lowering his ERA to 3.20 in three starts with Portland. Zach Bryant struggled, surrendering three earned runs without recording an out. Isaac Coffey tossed a pair of shutout innings with no hits allowed and one strikeout. Ronaldo Hernandez provided the Sea Dogs' lone run, roping an RBI double in the ninth inning after back-to-back singles from Miguel Bleis and Brooks Brannon. Hernandez also singled and walked in four trips to the plate. Ronald Rosario went 1 for 4 with a single and his fifth stolen base.

In a game that was scheduled to go seven innings, the Drive battled in extra innings for the win. Antonio Anderson had the game-winning hit, a go-ahead RBI double in the ninth. Nelly Taylor had a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning as well before Hub City tied it in the bottom half of the frame. Franklin Arias also reached base three times from the top spot in the order with a single and two walks. Fraymi De Leon added a double. Devin Futrell had a nice outing, surrendering just one run in five innings. He struck out two and did not walk anybody. Adam Smith tossed three innings and only gave up one unearned run with three strikeouts, and Danny Kirwin picked up the save with a clean ninth inning.

Brady Tygart continued his strong start to his professional career with 3 2/3 shutout innings. The 2024 draft pick only allowed one hit and one walk to go along with six strikeouts. He now has 17 strikeouts in 11 innings this year. Adam Bates could not find his control, walking five in 2 2/3 innings, which led to two runs. Nicolas De La Cruz pitched great for 2 1/3 frames, allowing no runs on just two hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Wuilliams Rodriguez recorded the final out to earn the save.
Skylar King had a productive night, going 2 for 3 with a pair of triples, a walk, and two runs scored. Gerardo Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI. D'Angelo Ortiz was 2 for 4 with an RBI single, and Justin Gonzales had three hits including his 21st two-bagger.

Player of the Day: John Holobetz' extremely efficient outing earns the honor. The right-hander only threw 69 pitches, 46 for strikes, in his seven frames. He has now completed at least six innings in all three starts with Portland. He is currently ranked 31st here at SoxProspects.com.
