Blind Baseball reaches Czechia
The Eagles Baseball & Softball complex hosted a historic Blind Baseball training session during the Prague Baseball Week (Pražský Baseballový Týden) in June, the first ever in Czechia. The Czech Baseball Association (CBA) supported the initiative.
"This groundbreaking event brought together individuals interested in discovering blind baseball," stated the organisers in a press release. "Participants had the chance to try throwing, batting, and running, guided by trainers who explained the official rules of blind baseball."
The session ended with an informal demonstration game, giving everyone a first-hand experience of the sport.
"The main goal is to establish the first Czech National Blind Baseball Team, with the ambition to take part in the Blind Baseball European Championship this coming October. Training sessions will continue throughout the summer, and the organisers welcome new participants to join and be part of this growing movement," added the release.
The Prague Baseball Week, the Eagles Prague, and APA FTVS (the Applied Physical Education and Sport of Persons with Specific Needs chapter of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague) helped organise the activity.
The WBSC is supporting the development of Blind Baseball in Czechia with equipment and educational for coaches.
