Alice Lloyd College Receives ‘A’ Rating in 2025 Forbes Financial Rankings

Alice Lloyd College has once again been recognized for its financial strength, earning an A average and ranking third among all private colleges in Kentucky in the 2025 College Financial Grades by Forbes magazine.

ALC’s high marks are a direct result of its conservative fiscal approach, combined with the faithful investment of alumni and friends who believe in the mission of educating leaders for Appalachia. For over a century, the College has relied on the American free enterprise system, and the generous support of private individuals and foundations across the nation. The College remains debt-free, and accepts no direct government funding. 

Forbes annually reports on the financial health of American private, not-for-profit colleges. The Forbes College Financial Grades are designed to assess a private college’s operational soundness and balance sheet. Eligible colleges are analyzed based on nine components: endowment assets, primary reserve ratio, viability ratio, core operating margin, tuition as a percentage of core revenues, return on assets, admissions yield, percentage of freshmen receiving grant aid, and instruction expenses per full-time equivalent.

The College continues to provide a high-quality, character-based education, while charging no out-of-pocket costs for tuition. In addition, the College’s iPurpose Initiative ensures student access to technology and textbooks, at no cost to them. The Student Work Program allows students to gain valuable work experience and professional skills, further enhancing their readiness for today’s workforce.
