Morning Briefing: Mets Have Lost Seven of Their Last Eight
Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets fell 3-2 to the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, continuing their struggles with a seventh loss in eight games. New York took an early 2-0 lead thanks to RBIs from Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso, but Cleveland’s starter, Logan Allen, settled in after the second inning, keeping the Mets off the board. The Guardians grabbed control in the seventh, stringing together a few weak singles off Tyler Rogers to push across the go-ahead run. New York’s offense couldn’t get anything going from there, as Cleveland retired the final 14 batters in a row to seal the win.
David Peterson (7-4, 2.83 ERA) takes the mound today in the series finale against the Guardians. The Mets will be facing right-hander Gavin Williams (6-4, 3.33 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. and will air on SNY.
