Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets had a busy trade deadline, acquiring Gregory Soto, Tyler Rogers, Ryan Helsley and Cedric Mullins, while sending out 10 prospects and José Buttó. The deals saw New York part with several highly regarded prospects, including Drew Gilbert, Blade Tidwell and top-10 talent Jesus Baez, reshaping both the major league bullpen and farm system. Newly acquired reliever Tyler Rogers will be active Friday as the Mets face his former team, the Giants. Jesse Winker was moved to the 60-day IL with back and oblique issues, putting his season in doubt. Chris Devenski was optioned to Triple-A after re-signing; he has a 2.84 ERA in 12 2/3 innings.

The Houston Astros could be without All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes for 6-7 months after it was revealed he suffered a torn hamstring. The team hopes he’ll return by Opening Day 2026, according to KPRC 2’s Ari Alexander and Bob Nightengale of USA Today, who later confirmed on X.

Trade Deadline Moves

The Philadelphia Phillies finalized a deal to acquire outfielder Harrison Bader from the Minnesota Twins, pending medical review. The Twins received both an outfield and a pitching prospect in return, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The Detroit Tigers acquired veteran reliever Paul Sewald from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for cash or a player to be named later. Sewald, currently on the 60-day injured list, is expected back in September. Chris Beeble and Jason Beck of MLB.com reported the move.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finalized a deal for right-hander Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The San Diego Padres acquired catcher Freddy Fermin from the Kansas City Royals, slugger Ryan O’Hearn and Ramon Laureano from the Baltimore Orioles, and infielder Will Wagner from the Toronto Blue Jays, all reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The Texas Rangers added Merrill Kelly, Danny Coulombe and Phil Maton, according to ESPN.

The Chicago Cubs brought in utility man Willi Castro, also reported by ESPN.

In other moves, Bailey Falter went to the Royals, Dustin May joined the Red Sox and Nestor Cortes Jr. landed with the Padres, all as reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Charlie Morton joined the Tigers, and Mike Yastrzemski was traded to the Royals, according to ESPN.

Taj Bradley went to the Twins in a deal involving Griffin Jax, per Pinstripe Alley.

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired right-hander Adrian Houser from the Chicago White Sox, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
