Guardians News and Notes: Win a Series
News and Notes for Sunday, July 20th, 2025
The Guardians lost to the Sacramento Athletics last night.
It would not be a big deal to lose a game that Luis Severino pitched except for the fact that the Guardians were two games under .500 last night and it was a winnable 3-2 game late. But, the Guardians offense outside of Jose Ramirez was, again, non-existent, Nic Enright wasn’t able to be effective in his second inning of work, and Kolby Allard finally looked like Kolby Allard.
Today is a bit of a rough one for Guardians fans, aside from the loss. There is no sign of Chase DeLauter in the Columbus lineup and GM Mike Chernoff apparently said he will get further imaging on his wrist and they will know more next week, Nick Kurtz is crushing our team in the bigs while Travis Bazzana sits another game as he comes back from an oblique injury, and the Luis Ortiz investigation was extended which certainly doesn't mean "We didn't find anything of interest on him gambling on baseball."
At least Shane Bieber should make a rehab start for Lake County or Columbus on Tuesday. Ramp up the trade speculation, folks.
At least they still have a chance to win a series at home. That is always nice, no matter the context.
Matt Seese and I finally got together to podcast about the Guardians MLB Draft class on the Disgusting Baseball Podcast.
