Chinese Taipei Baseball Association reveals U-12, U-15, U-18 rosters
With the slogan “One Team, One Dream,” the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) has announced rosters for the three Chinese Taipei teams participating in the upcoming WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2025 presented by RAXUS, the BFA U-15 Asian Baseball Championship, both in Tainan, and the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025 presented by RAXUS in Okinawa, Japan.
Speaking at the squads presentation, CTBA President Jeffrey Koo, Jr. encouraged the players to be humble and be thankful. “For all the achievements that Chinese Taipei baseball has done, it has been built upon hard work and contributions from a lot of preceding players.
“Baseball is not just a sport, but an education to shape the characters of children. Baseball players get to learn about the concept of teamwork and the spirit of sacrificing the self for the greater good.
“It’s our No. 1 sport, and it brings all Taiwanese together,” Koo added. “How Chinese Taipei has fared on the international stage showed the toughness and resilience of our baseball.”
The coaching staff and players of three Chinese Taipei teams were individually introduced with a cheering squad, along with live music as if it was the start of a game in stadium. Koo presented the team flags to the U-12, U-15, and U-18 teams, presenting blessings and the expectations on behalf of baseball fans.
The U-12 Chinese Taipei team is led by manager Tzu-Chien Chang from Fulin Elementary School in Taipei City. Chang led Fulin to represent Taipei City in the annual Huanan Financial Cup and successfully repeated the title for Taipei City. The team went through a training camp comprised of 22 players before the final roster of 18 was confirmed and announced in early July.
The U-18 Chinese Taipei team is led by manager Hung-Yuan Liao from the Affiliated Taichung Senior Agricultural Vocational High School of National Chung Hsing University. Liao represented Taichung to win the E-Sun Cup and was awarded the rights to assemble the team to represent Chinese Taipei to participate in the upcoming WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup presented by RAXUS in Okinawa. Currently, the team is in a training phase, with 36 players selected for the camp, and the final roster of 18 will be determined later in August.
The U-15 Chinese Taipei team is gearing up for the upcoming BFA U-15 Asia Cup in August, also held in Tainan. The team is led by manager Yao-Yu Chiu from Er Chong Junior High School of New Taipei City. Chiu led New Taipei City to defeat Taipei City in the championship game with a score of 4-3, winning the Huanna Financial Cup and the right to assemble the team to represent Chinese Taipei in the Asia Cup.
Chinese Taipei has secured two Baseball World Cup titles, three runners-up medals, and four fourth places in WBSC Baseball World Cups since 2018, when Koo took office. Chinese Taipei also won the championship title four times and was runner-up twice in BFA tournaments. In 2024, Chinese Taipei won the WBSC Premier12 for the first time in its history, marking an unprecedented achievement for the world No. 2 baseball programme.
