Report: Mets Among Teams Interested in Edward Cabrera
Trade deadline buzz continues to build around the Mets, who have reportedly emerged as a team of interest in a division rival’s starting pitcher.
According to MLB reporter Francys Romero, New York is among several organizations showing interest in Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera ahead of the deadline.
Cabrera, 27, has quietly put together a strong season for Miami. Through 15 starts, he owns a 3.33 ERA with 80 strikeouts and a 1.23 WHIP across 78 1/3 innings. Known for his electric fastball, Cabrera’s four-seamer averages 96.7 mph this season.

While walks have occasionally been an issue, as he has issued free passes to nine percent of the batters he has faced, Cabrera’s ability to limit hard contact and rack up strikeouts makes him an appealing mid-rotation arm.
In recent weeks, the 27-year-old has taken his game to another level. Over his last seven starts, Cabrera has posted a 1.46 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 42/16 K/BB ratio in 37 innings, while earning a win in three of those outings.
Since making his big league debut in Miami during the 2021 season, Cabrera has tossed 372 1/3 major league innings, posting a 20-25 record with a 4.11 ERA.
Cabrera is under team control through the 2028 season. Cabrera represents a potential high-upside deadline addition to the Mets’ rotation.
