Guardians News and Notes: Eight is Enough

News and Notes for Saturday, July 5th, 2025

The Guardians lost again, their eighth in a row, and they are 10-20 in their last 30.

They banged out nine hits... but left 10 on base. It's always something, right now. And today, Logan Allen faces Casey Mize, tomorrow is Tarik Skubal, and then they go to Houston to play the Astros who just put up 18 on the Dodgers!

Given that the team did not call Chase DeLauter up yesterday, I am guessing we don't see him until after the trade deadline when they find a way to unload Lane Thomas somehow some way, moving Nolan Jones to centerfield. Of course, Thomas's plantar fascitis acted up again last night so no team may want to even touch that situation. Sigh.

Zack Meisel of the Athletic has a follow-up article on the Luis Ortiz situation. Certainly sounds like it'll push the team further and quicker into the seller category.
