9 Rocchio SS (called up yesterday for injured Arias)

That’s right, Nolan Jones leading off. He sees a lot of pitches and he doesn’t hit for power. I promise it makes a bit of sense. And Kwan hitting 2nd makes a ton more sense than the platoon of .130 hitters we’re sticking there so far this season.

The team had no chance yesterday in Chicago. They had far less talent than the Cubs, and played like they knew it. They got dominated by a former Guardian again. Matt Boyd desperately wanted to stay, so I guess they thought he’d take $2.7 million or something. Wrong, like everything else they tried. At least we got to see Matt Festa pitch again.

Even when it was 3-2, the game wasn’t close. It’s time for a last ditch effort before we trade away the guys who won’t help in 2026. And if you thought this was a harsh couple paragraphs, Tom Hamilton was 10x harsher last night.

Around baseball

  • At least we’re not the Washington Nationals. In addition to being the only team that played worse than the Guardians in June and playing in a city that has taxation without representation, the Nats will now play baseball in uniforms sponsored by the AARP.
  • Remember this weekend when the Guardians made the Cardinals look like the best team to ever play? The Cardinals have not scored a run since.
