White Sox Minor League Update: July 1, 2025
It was a rough night on the farm as affiliates went 1-3, with Cannon Ballers earning the sole victory
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 5, Charlotte Knights 0 (Statcast box)
It was a tough night at the plate for Charlotte as the Jumbo Shrimp hurlers held the Knights to one hit. The only knock came off the bat of Corey Julks in the third inning when he smacked a ground-rule double. Despite drawing four walks, the Knights couldn’t capitalize, leaving all those runners stranded without another hit to advance them.
On the mound for Charlotte, starter Owen White struggled, giving up four runs over four innings. Relievers Fraser Ellard, Tyler Schweitzer, and Justin Anderson provided some stability, holding the Jumbo Shrimp scoreless through the next four frames. However, Bryse Wilson entered in the ninth and surrendered a solo shot before the game was called due to inclement weather, with only one out recorded in the inning, solidifying the 5-0 loss.
Chattanooga Lookouts 3, Birmingham Barons 1
The Barons struggled to generate much offense. Their hitting was limited to seven scattered singles and a few walks, with their lone run coming in the bottom of the sixth inning. DJ Gladney hit into a strange sacrifice fly double play after singles from Rikuu Nishida and Jacob Gonzalez. On the pitching side, the Barons’ starter Riley Gowens gave up an early run in the second inning on an error. Then, the Lookouts scored two more tallies in the sixth inning via a two-run double.

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 7, Hickory Crawdads 3
The Ballers (36-40) overcame an early deficit to secure the victory. After a rain delay to start the contest, Kanny’s offense was quiet in the first two innings, but they broke through in the third when Ryan Burrowes drove in a run on a base hit, followed by a two-run single from Lyle Miller-Green to take a 3-2 lead. CB’s pitching was steady through the middle frames, with Liam Paddack holding the Crawdads scoreless for 2 1⁄3 innings.
The Ballers extended their lead in the seventh, as T.J. McCants delivered an RBI single. They then sealed the win in the eighth with a three-run rally, highlighted by RBI singles from Grant Magill and Abraham Nunez, pushing the score to 7-2. The Ballers’ bullpen of Carlton Perkins and Jonathan Clark held down Hickory late in the game.

ACL Royals 1, ACL White Sox 0 (Tuesday)
The ACL White Sox suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the Royals, with their offense unable to break through despite drawing several walks and hitting a pair of doubles by Stiven Flores and Leandro Alsinois. The Complex Sox struggled to string hits together, collecting only three while leaving eight runners stranded and striking out in crucial moments.
The Sox pitching delivered a strong performance, limiting the Royals to a single unearned tally in the first inning, which scored on a balk after an initial throwing error by third baseman Mason Dinesen. Starter Connor McCullough allowed the one run on two hits with four Ks over two frames, and reliever Mathias LaCombe held the Royals scoreless for 2 1⁄3 innings.
ACL White Sox 5, ACL Red (Monday, 7 innings)
The ACL White Sox offense exploded early. Drake Logan doubled to kick off a four-run bottom of the first, followed by singles from Albertson Asigen, Stiven Flores, and D’Angelo Tejada, and a ground-rule double from Mason Dinesen. The Sox extended their lead in the bottom of the second when Flores doubled, scoring Asigen, who had reached on an error.

Madison Jeffrey replaced Lima in the fourth and blanked the Reds for two innings, and Jake Curtis closed out the game with two more scoreless frames, securing the 5-3 victory for the White Sox.
