Seattle ties for the most prospects represented in MLB’s prospect All-Star game.

Three Seattle Mariners prospects will make the trek to Atlanta, Georgia and play in the MLB Futures Game during All-Star Weekend. SHP Jurrangelo Cijntje, OF Lazaro Montes, and C Harry Ford all have been invited to showcase their talents in MLB‘s de facto prospect All-Star Game.

The game will feature dozens of the most well regarded prospects across minor league baseball, and is broadcast on MLB Network at 1 PM PT on Saturday, July 12. Seattle is one of just two teams to have a trio of prospects represented, alongside the Detroit Tigers. Satisfyingly, all three players are performing impressively this season.

Cjintje is striking out 26.1% of batters he’s facing with the AquaSox, while engaging in his atypical switch-pitching progression that Seattle is attempting to tweak into excellence. While his numbers overall aren’t fully satisfactory, the M’s have been working on developmental adjustments that are hopeful to bear fruit in the long term. Montes is slugging up a storm, continuing to clobber the baseball in Double-Arkansas after his recent promotion from High-A Everett. He’s added three home runs in his first six games with the Travelers to bring his season total to 21, with a .267/.388/.582 line thus far this season across both levels at age 20.

Nearest is Ford, whose big league debut seemed imminent after Mitch Garver’s possible injury last week. Instead, he’ll return to the Futures Game which he’s featured in previously. The speedy backstop is one of the best catching prospects in the sport.
