O’s Even Series With 5-1 Win
In what has been called a crucial road trip for the Baltimore Orioles, the record on that trip sits at one game apiece with Tuesday’s 5-1 win by the Orioles over the Tampa Bay Rays (40-33). Although every starter but Cedric Mullins (0 for 4) recorded at least one hit, it just seemed that Tampa was one hit away from getting back into the game. Tampa went three-up, three-down in the third, fifth and ninth innings.
Dean Kremer (6-7) started and gave the team 5.0 serviceable innings. He allowed just the one run on 4 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in earning the win. He did bear down to record two strikeouts to end the fourth inning, stranding runners at first and second.
Four relievers combined to hold the Rays scoreless over 4.0 innings but the question remains, are the Orioles becoming too reliant on the bullpen?
Keegan Akin allowed 2 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1 over 1.2 innings. Gregory Soto struck out 1 in 0.1 inning and Bryan Baker (H) and Felix Bautista (K) each pitched 1.0 inning.
Offensively, Colton Cowser went 1 for 4 with a run scored, 1 RBI and a 5th inning homerun: he did strikeout 3 times, however.
Dylan Carlson went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base.
Jordan Westburg went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 runs scored.
Ramon Laureano went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and an outfield assist.
Back to 10 games below .500, can the Orioles get that number to single digits?
