Columbus got two big performances on offense Sunday. The first was from Johnkensy Noel, who has been revitalized since being demoted. Noel went 3-for-5 with two doubles, raising his batting average to .400 and OPS to 1.223.

The other standout was C.J. Kayfus, who went 2-for-5 with a double. Will Wilson also reached base safely twice with a single and a walk while Dom Nunez doubled.

Starting pitcher Joey Cantillo impressed with 2.0 scoreless innings. Aaron Davenport also was terrific, with 4.2 scoreless innings of piggyback relief on one hit with three walks and a strikeout.

Crazily, the game stayed scoreless until the 10th inning, where Columbus blasted off for seven runs. Parker Mushinski gave up three runs in the bottom of the frame, but held on for the win.

Angel Genao had his best game since being activated from the injured list, going 3-for-4 with a home run, his first of the season. He’s now batting .321 with an .845 OPS.

Other standout performances belonged to Cameron Barstad, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and a hit by pitch. Guy Lipscomb went 1-for-3 with a walk and Michael Turconi went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Cooper Ingle also doubled and walked.

Starting pitcher Zach Jacobs allowed one run on one hit with two strikeouts and a walk in 3.0 innings. Adam Tulloch added 2.0 innings of scoreless relief and Davis Sharpe earned the save with 2.0 scoreless frames to close out the game.

Lake County Captains 1, Dayton Dragons 4

Lake County only managed four hits, but at least three of them were for extra bases. Maick Collado went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Christian Knapczyk doubled and Esteban Gonzalez doubled and walked.

Starting pitcher Matt Wilkinson allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks in 4.1 innings.

Jesus Luna gave Lake County a chance to come back with 3.0 perfect scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Lynchburg Hillcats 2, Carolina Mudcats 1

Box Score · Hillcats improve to 41-22

Lynchburg scored two runs in the first inning on a two-run single from Luis Merejo, who went 1-for-2 with a walk, and that was all the Hillcats needed.

Welbyn Francisca went 1-for-3 with a walk while Tommy Hawke walked twice and stole his 60th base of the season. He also got caught attempting to steal home.

Lynchburg got some spectacular pitching performances. It started with Rafe Schlesinger, who tossed 4.2 scoreless innings on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Julio Zapata added 1.1 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts. Donovan Zsak gave up one run in his lone inning of work and Luis Flores earned the save with 2.0 scoreless innings and four strikeouts to close out the game.
