A winless homestand.

Anne Rogers writes about the winless homestand.

“It wasn’t good,” shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. said. “It was bad. You got to flush it and have an off-day tomorrow, and that’s all you can do right now. Can’t change what happened in those games. But also, you can just learn from it. And we got to learn from it.

“Because we just got beat by teams that we could beat. Can’t have that happen.”

Jaylon Thompson wrote about the players’-only meeting on Saturrday.

Several Royals affirmed they want to win. But those expectations have, at times, added pressure, which has turned into frustration. The Royals carried that elevated temperament home. It has lingered in the clubhouse during the losing skid: five games, all at home. The hope is that the meeting will offer a clean slate.

“It’s been a little bit of everything,” Witt said. “Even when you are at home, you are thinking about it. You are at the field, you are thinking about it. So it’s just one of those things where it’s: ‘How do I get back to being myself?’”

Maddie Hartley at the Star talks to Bobby’s about his slumping bat.

“For me, it’s been not good,” Witt said. “... I just gotta get back to being myself, and not trying to put pressure on myself, but just really try to go out there, be comfortable and confident and enjoy the game.

“... It’s frustrating that I’m not doing what I’m capable of doing, and doing it very poorly. I just gotta get back to being myself.”

Jonathan India should be okay after suffering a shoulder subluxation.

I’ve had this plenty of times in the past,” India said. “Dealt with it before. Hasn’t happened in years. It was an unfortunate subluxation in my shoulder. Took a little bit to go back in, but I’ll be OK.”
